Shrines/Reliquaries

These images are custom-made pieces for clients, and therefore are not for sale. I work with the client to create small assemblages based on a concept (Victorian love, for instance) or to honor a particular divinity or familial religious heritage, or a as a memorial to a beloved who has died.  The client and I consult at length in  the beginning so I can conceptualize what  s/he has in mind; after this is narrowed, I do extensive research regarding the history and iconography that is extant, begin gathering materials, and let the piece organically unfold in my imagination.  Because of this organic unfolding, the entire process may take several months depending on the size, materials I'm working with, season (I can't use oil-based finishes or mineral spirits in the winter here in NH because I need good ventilation) and complexity. I can also provide the client with links and .pdfs of source materials as well as a statement of my process when the final piece is delivered. Price is based on the client's concept, size, materials (for instance, 22k gold leaf increases the cost significantly) and  budget. These particular pieces ranged in price from $300 to $1200.
